Kasey Kahne and Stop Texts, Stop Wrecks
Some of you may know Kasey Kahne as the driver of Nascar's #5 race car sponsored by Farmers Insurance.
While he looks to set records for speed on the track, when on the road with the rest of us, driver's safety is paramount.
See his new public service announcement for "Stop Texts. Stop Wrecks." below.
Platinum Elite Marketing wishes you safe travels as you go to work, school, and out to have fun. Please pull over to the side of the road if you really need to read or send a text message.
Our Farmers agents happily pay auto claims when we need to, but like you, we don't want to pay more often than we need to. Please avoid distracted driving.
Even worse, we hate paying life insurance and auto insurance claims at the same time.

Lessons Learned: Power Outage Gives Preview of Next Emergency
On September 8th, 2011, a large scale power outage cascaded from Arizona into much of Southern California, and even into parts of Mexico, and New Mexico.
Safety Kit for Emergencies |
Warnings of contaminated water in some parts. Warning of power surges when everything comes back on line. Warnings of food poisoning. In the end, for most it was an inconvenience and an even slower commute on the way home.
Judging by the long line outside the supermarket down the street from my house, I'm guess most weren't prepared though, or at least they assumed much worse.

Advanced Platinum Elite Training: The LUTCF and the American College
One way the Platinum Elite Marketing coaches it's insurance agents and agency owners to succeed is to assist them in achieving advanced educational designations such as the LUTCF through the American College.
This August, Don Swanson and Kevin Tuckey will be conducting the next in a series of classroom based training classes for the LUTCF designation. This one will focus on "The Essentials of Annuities". In the recent past we've done Marketing, Ethics, Business Insurance, and Retirement Plans.
When the degree is achieved, those letters behind the agent's name shows their clients they've committed the time it takes to be a true professional agent and provide the best advice and service possible. Not all insurance agents are the same.
If interested in more information about these LUTCF classes, or about working with the Platinum Elite Marketing Group as an agent, or agency owner, call 619-296-3276.

Home Safety: Keep Your Pets Inside This 4th of July
Found this on Facebook.
Every 4th of July, keep your pets indoors. Fireworks and celebrations often cause pets to run for safety, or hide where you can't find them.
* Create a safe, escape proof part of your home
* Provide plenty of water, and a few favorite play toys
* Leave the TV or radio on to mask the noices and provide them with familiar sounds
In the future, micro-chip your pets so if they do get away, it's easier for them to be located and returned to you quickly. Click HERE.
Another one of our blogs on the "No-Bite Zone".
Happy 4th.

Fire Prevention & Safety: Happy 4th of July
Happy 4th of July!!!
The Farmers Agents with the Platinum Elite Group wish you a happy and safe holiday weekend.
But don't let the festivities lead to tragedy. Keep some safety precautions in mind.
4th of July Fire Safety Tips
Severe burns, amputations, blindness, and, in some cases, death are often the results of 4th of July celebrations.
For more info: www.fire.ca.gov
CAL FIRE’s Office of the State Fire Marshal has the following tips (while maybe obvious, they're not always followed):
Always read directions.
Always have an adult present.
Use fireworks outdoors only.
Never use near dry grass or other flammable materials.
Light one at a time.
Keep a safe distance.
Never point or throw fireworks at another person.
Never experiment with fireworks.
Have a bucket of water and a hose handy.
Never attempt to re-light or “fix” fireworks.
Do not wear loose fitting clothing.
Never carry fireworks in your pockets.
Fireworks are not toys.
Use only State Fire Marshal approved fireworks.
Remember: Parents are legally liable for any damage or injuries caused by their children using fireworks.
Of course, if an area is unsafe for fireworks, any amount of caution is not enough. Only use fireworks in safe, legal areas (well away from brush, etc.). Otherwise, attend a professional fireworks show.
Whether driving on a road trip, or boating, watch out for others who are distracted, or are under the influence. Often on holidays, common sense and care goes on vacation too.

Anyone who starts a wildfire or structure fire will also be held liable for damages and the cost of firefighting.
Alcohol is another part of celebrating that often leads to tragedy. Even if you're careful, others are not always so thoughtful.
